Hello folks - today has been a busy posting day, with an editorial, two notes about upcoming meetings, and a letter from us to you, Montrose County’s concerned citizens. Just scroll down the page to read everything posted under the 23 August 2006 datelines.

During the past several years the obvious, indiscriminate growth within Montrose County has become an increasingly important and contentious issue. How do we best balance competing interests and still manage the complex problems associated with our county’s “popularity”?
Fortunately, our county already possesses such a document called the MASTER PLAN, which was painstakingly created several years ago to provide just such guidance and direction. (A copy is available from the county land use office, or on the Montrose County Web site.

Dear Friends, Neighbors, Supporters, & Concerned Citizens,
Montrose Citizens for Responsible Growth (MCRG) plans to conduct an information campaign about the county Master Plan. Our purpose is to inform Montrose County citizens about the background, purpose, and usage of Master Plans, and to publish and to explain the specific contents of our Master Plan.
Following the information campaign, we intend to retain an independent, professional survey/ polling organization to conduct a scientific survey of the citizens of Montrose county on the subject of formal adoption of our Master Plan as the guiding document for land use planning, decision-making, and land use regulations for Montrose County.
